Primary School Teacher Dawn Hoey is grateful for DSAA’s support…

I would like to say a very big thank you to the crew of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, who looked after me and took me to Dorchester Hospital after I was involved in a car accident in Shillingstone in March.

I was extremely scared and in a lot of pain after the crash. I was unsure how serious my pelvic injury was, so felt relieved when I knew I would be going in the helicopter, and would get to hospital quickly. I was really scared about not seeing my three beautiful children again.

Once I arrived at hospital I had a CT scan, which showed that I had three pelvic fractures. Fortunately, these were all stable, so no surgery was needed. I have been resting, undergoing physio and gaining strength to walk again and thankfully I started back at work on 21st May as a Primary School Teacher at Durweston School.

I really appreciate being looked after and supported by your crew, who were all fantastic. The school did a cake sale to raise money for both Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and my family. I decided to donate the money they raised for us and enclose it with the funds raised for your Charity, in hope that it will help (a little) for you to be there for someone else at such a scary and traumatic time.

If you've been inspired by Dawn’s story and would like to help us to continue saving lives, we would be grateful to receive your donation. No matter how big or small, every penny donated really will make a big difference! Thank you.
