Our Impact News 24 hours of bowls in Frome to raise funds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance An inspiring fundraising challenge is taking place this May, as Ladies Captain Kathy Kingman and Club Secretary Mike Bishop take on an impressive 24 hours of bowls across one weekend in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. 24 hours of bowls On Saturday the 23rd and Sunday 24th of May, Kathy and Mike will play two back-to-back twelve-hour sessions from 9am to 9pm each day. The challenge will see them complete a series of full games, playing 21 ends at a time with short breaks throughout, all with the aim of raising vital funds for our life-saving service. Taking place at Frome Selwood Bowls Club, the event promises to be a welcoming and family-friendly occasion, with plenty to keep visitors entertained. Spectators will be encouraged to come along, support the challenge and even try their hand at bowls. Alongside the bowls action, there will be a raffle featuring generously donated prizes from local businesses, as well as a fun “Guess How Many Bowls” competition” Kathy has also created a special fundraising initiative aimed at younger supporters, knitting colourful memory hearts which will be available to those who make a donation during the event. Kathy said: “Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a vital charity which saves lives. The club is located close to where the helicopter often lands when responding to emergencies in the Frome area, giving members a clear understanding of just how vital the service is to the local community”. Kathy and Mike have had outstanding support from the local community, with raffle prizes donated by local businesses and funds being donated to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance through their JustGiving page. They would love to see as many people as possible come along over the weekend to cheer them on, take part in the activities and support an important cause.
