About Us Meet the Team Charity Trustees Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is guided by a skilled Board of Trustees with backgrounds in healthcare, aviation, law, business, and more. The Board, comprising a Chair and up to twelve Trustees, oversees governance and has sub-committees for staffing and finance. Representatives from Gama Aviation and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASfT) also attend meetings to provide operational expertise. Meet our Board members Chair - Tracey Killen Tracey worked in retail throughout her career with the John Lewis Partnership. She ran the John Lewis shop at Cribbs Causeway, before moving across to Human Resources where she became the Director of Personnel for the Partnership and a member of the Board before retiring in April this year. Tracey is a Non-Executive Director of Morgan Sindall PLC where she Chairs the Remuneration Committee and is also a member of the Audit and Nominations Committees. She is a Fellow of Be the Business - a not for profit organisation that supports SME's to improve their business performance, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel, and a Governor at Merchants Academy school in Bristol, which is part of the Venturers Trust where Tracey also sits on the HR Committee. Tracey lives in a village in South Somerset and loves to cook, entertain, garden and walk. Deputy Chair - Martin Lyne Martin graduated in Economics and Finance from Leeds University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Robson Rhodes in London. Joining Dixons in 1990, he supported the group’s transformation to out of town retail and into new chains as Retail Controller. In 1998, Martin and his family relocated to the Southwest where he joined Orange. Over a 13-year tenure he played a leading role as Commercial Director, establishing the business culture during a period of unprecedented market growth, to leadership and integration into EE. In the last decade he led the transformation of Alexandra, a leading supplier to the NHS and Emergency services, playing a key role during the COVID-19 crisis. Martin now advises start-ups and charities in the Southwest. He is not only a Trustee for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, but also holds similar positions at the Avon Wildlife Trust and ARC Inspire. He lives in Bath with his wife Sara and enjoys visiting their three daughters. Simon Jones Simon has worked within the aerospace and defence industry for over 30 years, with the last 23 spent with Leonardo Helicopters, where he sits as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Simon has a wide breadth of business knowledge and experience, including working extensively overseas, including two long term assignments in Canada and Denmark. Simon is a Trustee of the Leonardo Helicopters Pension Scheme and a Governor of Preston School in Yeovil; he became a Trustee of DSAA in 2018. Simon lives in a village on the Somerset Levels with his wife Amanda and spends his limited spare time cycling, skiing, kayaking, competing in motorcycle trails and is actively involved in the community, having helped organise two local charity events for the last 20 years. Wendy Green Wendy graduated in Pathology from the University of Cambridge in 1983; since then she has had an interesting and varied career. Initially, Wendy worked in technical management roles with food manufacturing companies. After an extended childcare break, she took on a range of clinical governance and project management roles within both the NHS and two independent hospices. She also spent several years working as School Food Project Manager for Somerset County Council. Currently, Wendy is a Senior Clinical Claims Manager for WPA Health Insurance, based in Taunton. Wendy lives in Chard, where she is an active member of the local church. She enjoys walking and singing and also trips to London to visit her 2 adult children. Sue Heyes Sue has spent her career within the HR profession, working across a range of retail and financial service sector organisations. Her final position, before becoming an Independent HR Consultant, was supporting the relocation of Lloyds Register (LR) Marine to the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute; a collaboration between LR and Southampton University. The early part of Sue’s life was spent in Wimborne before she moved to the South East of England with work, moving back to the Wimborne area in 1990. She has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for over 30 years and currently supports her local branch as a volunteer. Sue has been married to Alan for 38 years and has a grown-up son. Her hobbies and interests are varied and include gardening, cooking and a wide range of crafting. Sarah Day Sarah works for the Healthcare Financial Management Association as a policy and research manager, supporting NHS finance staff across the UK to understand national policy and guidance and address knotty problems across all health sectors. Prior to this she worked as a management accountant in the NHS in Somerset; the South-west region; and, latterly, in a national role with NHS England. Sarah started her career at Westland Helicopters working as a structural design engineer on the EH101, having graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Bath. With a CV full of health and helicopters, DSAA is an obvious choice to support as a trustee! Sarah is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds a MBA. Sarah lives on the Somerset Levels and, when time allows, enjoys gardening and walking. Richard Marlow Rich Marlow joined the NHS in 1984. Following a career that has grown with the evolution of pre-hospital care, continuing in clinical practice as a Paramedic alongside an Operational Management position and currently working as an Assistant Director for South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust (SWASFT). Rich has always had a passion for air ambulance services and advances in pre-hospital care. He was a HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services) Paramedic with Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance when the charity first went operational in 2000, maintaining close links with the charity and its people ever since. Living on the Mendip Hills in Somerset, with his wife Tracy and St Bernard dog, he has a grown-up daughter. Outside of work, he volunteers for a number of charities including Mendip Cave Rescue as a team member, medical officer and trustee, Somerset Scouts as a county trustee, and the Duke of Edinburgh as an expedition assessor. To relax and unwind he loves to spend as much time as possible caving, kayaking, mountain walking and in the garden. Andrew Sheridan Prior to retiring as a partner in the professions in April 2024, Andrew had over 40 years of experience in advising corporates and financial stakeholders. With a wealth of experience across all stages of the corporate lifecycle and over a diverse range of industry sectors, he assisted companies, their advisers and stakeholders navigate through a range of complex situations. In January 2024, in his capacity of the administrator of Specialised Air Services (“SAS”), Andrew managed the sale of SAS to Gama Aviation, which ensured that DSAA and several other air ambulance charities remained operational throughout. This fuelled his passion for the phenomenal work that DSAA delivers. Andrew is now primarily engaged in part-time NED, Trustee and Governor roles ‘giving back’ on a pro-bono basis. He is a school governor and a member of the Barrow Gurney Parish Council and for 40 years, has enjoyed being a freelance commentator for the BBC on Rugby Union. Andrew enjoys all sports, travel, food and spending quality time with his family and five young grandchildren. Michael Bradfield Michael graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, before joining the NHS in 2005 and training as a Paramedic. He has experience in a variety of ambulance service operational areas, including working within emergency operations centres, clinical support, air ambulance critical care teams, education and in leadership roles. Michael enjoys travel and has an interest in supporting emergency medical systems in conflict and resource-constrained settings, including experience working on healthcare projects in Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Iraq, Gaza, Ukraine and Kosovo. He is the Director of Clinical and Service Development at Resuscitation Council UK, a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University and a Paramedic with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Michael has an MSc in Advanced Paramedic Practice (Critical Care) from the University of Hertfordshire and a doctorate from the University of Bath. Heather Morecroft Heather is Head of Strategy at the British Heart Foundation, with a focus on supporting the organisation’s medical research and healthcare teams and strategic initiatives. Her career has centred on strategy development and implementation for the last decade or so, and project and programme management prior to that. Before returning to the UK in 2024, Heather lived in Melbourne, Australia for 14 years. In her time there, she worked as Head of Strategy and Impact at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victoria), a strategy consultant at B Corp Spark Strategy, in various roles at the international development agency MSI Reproductive Choices, and at the University of Melbourne. After a consultancy project, Heather was invited to become a volunteer board director with Kidsafe Victoria, an Australian not-for-profit preventing child injury and death. Outside of work, Heather enjoys time with friends and family, hiking, yoga and podcasts. She has also become a fair-weather tennis player, retreating indoors for padel and pickleball.
