Esme Parker Air Ambulance patient in hospital

Esme’s Story – Told by Her Mum

“Esme and her dad were driving home from a football match when a tanker veered into their lane.

She suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractured skull, compressed vertebrae and a shattered hip. She was unconscious at the scene.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance arrived quickly, carried out a roadside emergency anaesthetic and flew her to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

She spent seven weeks in hospital and endured a seven-hour operation. Her recovery is ongoing, but she is here – and she’s still our Esme.

Without the air ambulance that day, our future would look very different – and most probably without Esme in it.”

— Vicky, Esme’s mum
