This summer, the picturesque village of Cerne Abbas invites visitors to step through its garden gates for a very special celebration. Cerne Abbas Open Gardens returns on 20–21 June 2026, marking an incredible 50 years of this much-loved community tradition, with proceeds supporting Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

A record-breaking year

In 2025, more than 1,500 visitors explored 30 gardens, helping to raise an outstanding £13,000 for charity. Around 100 local residents took part, from gardeners and ticket sellers to car-park stewards and plant-stall helpers, showing the true power of community collaboration.

Celebrating 50 years in 2026

This golden anniversary promises another memorable weekend. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of gardens, each with its own character, planting style, and story. From cottage borders bursting with colour to tranquil hidden corners, there is something to inspire every gardener and nature lover.

The village atmosphere is at the heart of the event, with refreshments, plant stalls, and friendly faces at every turn.

Supporting life-saving missions

This year, Cerne Abbas Open Gardens is proud to support Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. The charity delivers critical, hospital-level care at the scene of emergencies across the region, with each mission costing around £3,500 and funded almost entirely by donations.

By visiting the gardens, you’ll be helping to fund life-saving missions and ensure the service remains there for those who need it most.
