Have you spotted our yellow recycling banks across Dorset and Somerset?

We now have a grand total of 98 banks across both counties – and counting. If you’re looking for an easy way to donate your unwanted textiles with a big impact, we’ve got you covered.

Why use our recycling banks?

Donating your unwanted textiles is a fantastic way to support DSAA and help the planet!

By keeping clothes and household items out of landfill, we’re also generating a regular, sustainable income to help meet the £10 million we need to raise every year to keep our life-saving service operational.

Give with care: what to donate (and what to skip)

What happens to donated textiles?

DSAA has partnered with Recycling Solutions, a family run textile recycling company, who, on average, process over 200,000kg of textiles every month, diverting textiles and unwanted household items from landfill.

After donating textiles, they are sorted, graded and processed before being sold around the UK and exported around the world to destinations in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

Good quality items which can be reused, are sold to second-hand clothing traders in the UK and worldwide. 'End of life' garments are recycled into industrial wipers and cloths, mattress filling, insulation and new fibres. When the clothing bank is full, the stock is collected and weighed. DSAA then receives a payment based on the weight and selling price of the stock.
