Our Impact News Martyn’s 24hr Challenge: Walking to save lives, one step at a time Martyn Harris, a dedicated fundraiser and passionate supporter of DSAA, will take on an incredible challenge this May to raise funds and awareness for our charity. The 'Stalbridge 24hrs Challenge' Martyn has created the ‘Stalbridge 24hrs Challenge’ - which will see him walking a continuous loop around Stalbridge for 24 hours, stopping only for quick food and bathroom breaks. He is hoping to clock up 60 miles on his journey and will be kept company along the way by friendly faces who will join him on sections of the route. What a way to support DSAA! We caught up with Martyn to find out more... When asked why he has decided to take on such a momentous challenge, Martyn said: I wanted to do something big 'ish' but around my family life and Stalbridge: the people and the place I love. Walking and running are something I really enjoy and that have helped me a lot the last couple of years. I didn't think running was going to be something I could achieve not on a large fundraising scale, but walking was achievable and putting all that together I decided on the Stalbridge 24hrs idea. Why fundraise for DSSA? "Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance are always there for when the situation is needed, but to do that the charity requires donations, which means for them to be there for us - we have to be there for them. I see the helicopter most days fly over my house and knowing that the crew are on the way to what is most likely someone's worst possible moment I'm taking this challenge on to raise as much in sponsorship as I can to help keep the crew airborne". We look forward to following Martyn's journey around Stalbridge! Manage Cookie Preferences
