Our Impact News Race from the Base Cycle Challenge returns to Henstridge Airfield Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is excited to announce the return of our highly anticipated ‘Race from the Base’ cycle challenge! This unique charity cycling event will take place at Henstridge Airfield, home to our dedicated team and life-saving helicopter, Peggy. About the Event: Date: Saturday 7th September 2024 Location: Henstridge Airfield Choose Your Challenge: For the second consecutive year, we are offering an ultra-cycling event with three distances to suit all abilities: 30km (The Circuit) 60km (The Cruise) 100km (The Climb) All routes start and finish at Henstridge Airfield, providing a unique opportunity to see our airbase and meet our team. Event Highlights: 500 Places Available: Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or looking for a fun, fitness challenge, this event is for you! Team Building: Perfect for businesses or groups to foster camaraderie and competition. Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Spectators are welcome with free entrance to cheer on participants. Basecamp Village: Enjoy a variety of activities, stalls, music and a BBQ to celebrate the cyclists’ achievements. Henstridge Airfield Clubhouse & Café: Grab refreshments such as a bite to eat or bring a picnic to enjoy the day. Hosting a challenge event that starts and finishes at the airbase is really special, as it enables our supporters to meet some of the team and see where our life-saving crew and helicopter ‘Peggy’ are based. We will once again have our ‘Basecamp Village’ with a variety of activities and stalls, along with music and a BBQ after the challenge has finished, so participants and their families can come together and celebrate the achievements of those taking part.
