Our Impact News Restart a Heart 2025: Learn CPR and be a life-saver Restart a Heart Day takes place on the 16th of October and aims to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and encourage people to learn CPR. DSAA is committed to empowering communities with the knowledge and skills needed to act quickly in an emergency. Since September 2024, when our Life Support initiative was launched, we have been on a mission to not only facilitate the placement of defibrillators to businesses, organisations and communities but also provide the people of these communities the skills needed to perform CPR and utilise their defibrillator unit. The team have been busy, see how we are getting on below! CPR sessions and defibrillators across Dorset and Somerset Why learning CPR is important Did you know that around a quarter of the missions our crew are tasked to are cardiac arrests? Our crew can be anywhere within Dorset and Somerset within 20 minutes, but the care the patient receives before we get there can play a vital role in saving their life. Early CPR and defibrillation (attaching a defibrillator or AED to a patient and following the instructions) by a bystander can double chances of survival.
