Since 2020, Selwood has supported Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance by hosting a big charity ‘Ride Out’ from Henstridge Airfield to Portland. Year on year, bikers from all over the country have come together to take part, all while raising vital funds for our life-saving service.

The Ride Out grows

Since then, it’s only got bigger. In 2023, 50 bikes turned up, raising £2,425. The following year, that rose to 70 bikes and £3,476.55. In 2025, the Ride Out event welcomed 110 bikes and raised an incredible £4,200 for DSAA.

We spoke with Phil about the Ride Out and his plans for the future of the event. Here’s what he had to say:

“We started this ride out as a tribute to two close friends, and it has since grown from a local ride into a powerful community gathering that unites bikers from across the UK.

With the support of riders, donors, junction marshals, sponsors, start and finish hosts, friends and family, the Ride Out this year raised £4200. Overall, together as a group since 2020, we have so far raised over a staggering £15,700 to help fund the Air Ambulance’s life-saving work, which is operational 19 hours a day, 365 days a year.

And we’re not stopping here. Plans are already underway to make next year’s Ride Out even bigger and better. Keep an eye on our socials for all the details!”
