Twilight 5K Shift: DSAA’s charity walk, run or jog

Our 5K Twilight Shift is a fun, family friendly event. Take this opportunity to join us in celebrating 25 years of saving lives by walking, running or jogging, 5K around our airbase.

We want you to make this event your own, so take it at your own pace, wear fancy dress or carry some extra weight. The Twilight 5K Shift is your chance to get active and give back!

Why participate

Taking part in the 5K Twilight Shift is a great way to join our community, fundraise for a vital cause, and get moving!

Here’s what two of our amazing participants shared with us about why they are taking part:

Arabella McGeoch

Arabella is keen to support her local air ambulance charity. She said:

“I did the 100mile challenge in October 2024. My friend Jo’s life was saved in December 2024 when she was involved in a serious road traffic accident. I used to run 10k, but haven’t run for several years, so I am setting myself the challenge, even if I walk some of it!”

Arabella kindly shared a photo of herself and her friend Jo.

We can't wait to see you there!

Leanne Preuss

Leanne is taking this opportunity to support her local air ambulance. She sees the Twilight 5K Shift as a new challenge and a chance to enjoy a feel-good event.

Leanne is also doing something extraordinary. She will not only run the 5K, but do so pushing her son, Lewis in his wheelchair! She says:

“Lewis is now in a wheelchair after emergency life-saving spinal surgery last year and he is unable to do it on his own, so i am doing it with him so he can enjoy it. I am doing it for all those who cannot.”

“Also, my daughters god mother and our amazing friend works on HEMS on another crew. We are doing it as part of the Friars Moors Vets team as I am a vet nurse, but it is just me that is taking this challenge to push my son cross country in his wheelchair.”
