Our Impact News Will you help restart a heart? Join us for life-saving CPR training Did you know that approximately 25% of the missions Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) responds to are cardiac arrests? An out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is one of the most critical medical emergencies, affecting around 200 people in the UK every day. Sadly, only 1 in 10 people survive these incidents. However, the care a patient receives in those first crucial minutes before professional help arrives can make all the difference. Early CPR and defibrillation can double a patient's chances of survival and that's why we're committed to empowering our community with these life-saving skills. How you can help save a life To mark Restart a Heart Day on 16th October 2024, our Life Support Team is offering free CPR and Defibrillator Awareness Sessions to help you gain confidence in performing early life-saving interventions. Here's where you can join us: Saturday 19th October: Visit us at Clarks Village in Street from 10:00am to 4:00pm, where our Life Support Volunteers will provide free hands-on training in CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Wednesday 16th October: South Western Ambulance Service will be offering a similar opportunity at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole from 9:00am to 4:00pm. By learning CPR, you’re giving a person their best chance at survival and giving our crew a better chance to make a difference when our crew arrive on the scene. Can't make it in person?
