Our Impact News Yate and Sodbury Scooter Club Raise £21,000 for Three Air Ambulance Charities Following Tragedy Yate and Sodbury Scooter Club have presented Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA), Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance with cheques of £7,000 each to help fund their vital services. The incredible total of £21,000 was raised by the club for the air ambulance charities who rushed to help their members involved in a terrible road traffic collision on 31 May 2025. Sadly, despite the efforts of the specialist crews, three of the club’s members tragically passed away. On 2 August 2025, representatives from the club presented the cheques to the air ambulance charities following a tour of GWAAC’s airbase and meeting some of the crew. Fifty-nine people attended that day, including the scooter club members and their families. "When making the donations, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by each of the three air ambulance charities. Meeting their teams and hearing their stories was both humbling and inspiring, showing us the passion, dedication, and professionalism that drive their life-saving work. We are honoured to support them, knowing their efforts change, and often save lives, and we believe Tim, Rob, and Marie would be proud to see their memory honoured in this way." -Yate and Sodbury Scooter Club The funds raised will help ensure the charities can continue to provide their specialist pre-hospital care to people in urgent need in the regions they serve. Charlotte Humber, DSAA’s Supporter Engagement Officer said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Yate & Chipping Sodbury Scooter Club for their remarkable generosity during such a difficult time. To raise £7,000 for our charity, alongside supporting our colleagues at GWAAC and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, is truly humbling. Our thoughts remain with the families, friends, and all those affected by the tragic events of 31st May. This generous donation will help us continue delivering our lifesaving service and make a difference to those who need us most." Sully Sullivan, GWAAC’s Supporter Engagement Officer, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Yate and Chipping Sodbury Scooter Club for raising such a phenomenal amount. The circumstances are deeply tragic, and as a charity, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the club, and to the family and friends of those who lost their lives. What the club has created out of such heartbreak is truly inspirational. Their strength, unity, and compassion have been remarkable, and the response from the wider scooter community, with donations coming in from as far as Germany, has been deeply moving. As their local air ambulance, we were honoured to host them at our Almondsbury Airbase recently for a formal cheque presentation alongside the other air ambulances that attended. It was a small token of our appreciation and admiration for their extraordinary fundraising efforts over the last few months.” DSAA, GWAAC, and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has, and continues to support, Yate and Chipping Sodbury Scooter Club’s fundraising efforts. The total now stands at over £24,000! It’s not too late to donate – find out more below. Yate & Sodbury Scooter Club's Fundraising Page Manage Cookie Preferences
